Low voter turnout in the north, and particularly in Hatch, likely benefits those who oppose the tax.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Ellins said there has been unusually high turnout in the Radium Springs area. That\u2019s a more liberal area in Do\u00f1a Ana County Commissioner <a href=\"http:\/\/www.donaanacounty.org\/commissioners\/district1\" target=\"_blank\">Oscar Vasquez Butler\u2019s<\/a> district that likely leans toward opposing the tax. But turnout also been strong in the Picacho Hills area, which tax supporters have worked heavily.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Ellins said there are a number of precincts in <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Las Cruces<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> \u201cthat are turning out with some strength.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Voter turnout has been pretty weak today in the northern and southern areas of the county but, in at least a few precincts in Las Cruces, it has been pretty strong.
