More than 30,000 voted.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><a href=\"http:\/\/wa4richardson.blogspot.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Washington for Richardson<\/a> blogger Ken Camp said the victory shows that \u201c<st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city>\u2019s online supporters\u2026 are stronger than the formidable netroots machines that we\u2019re hearing that other candidates have put together.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.joinrudy2008.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Rudy Giuliani<\/a> won the contest for the Republican Party nomination.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city>, ranked as the fourth seed in the Democratic bracket, beat Al Gore \u2013 who\u2019s not running for president \u2013 in the first round, then <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hillaryclinton.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Hillary Clinton<\/a> in the second round. In the final round, he knocked off <a href=\"http:\/\/www.barackobama.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Barack Obama<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:city st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:city><\/st1:place> supporter and blogger <a href=\"http:\/\/www.americaforrichardson.org\/blog\/2\" target=\"_blank\">Emmett O\u2019Connell<\/a> wrote on the site <a href=\"http:\/\/www.americaforrichardson.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">America for Richardson<\/a> that beating Obama was a shock.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cHoly freakin\u2019 crap. I was resigned to losing out to Obama in the final round,\u201d he wrote. \u201cBeating Gore made sense. Despite his popularity, he isn\u2019t actually running. <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Clinton<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> is so hated online, beating her in the next round made total sense.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cBut we beat Obama, which totally blew me away,\u201d he wrote. \u201cWow.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"\"> <\/span>Winning the contest wasn\u2019t something <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city>\u2019s campaign ever mentioned or pushed on its Web site or e-mails. The victory was entirely driven by grassroots supporters.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cYou can have thousands of friends on your MySpace or Facebook pages,\u201d Camp said, \u201cbut if they\u2019re not willing to take action for their candidate, what\u2019s the point?\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Supporters of the presidential campaign of Gov.
