It&#8217;s also the last day to register to vote in one of those primaries.<\/p>\n<p>That means people who aren&#8217;t yet registered to vote in either primary can register and vote all in the same day &#8212; but only on Tuesday. You have to be registered as a Democrat to vote in that party&#8217;s primary and as a Republican to vote in that primary.<\/p>\n<p>There are some good resources online if you need help.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>You can register to vote online <a href=\"https:\/\/portal.sos.state.nm.us\/OVR\/WebPages\/InstructionsStep1.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>. If you&#8217;d rather register in person at your county clerk&#8217;s office, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sos.state.nm.us\/Voter_Information\/County_Clerk_Information.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">here&#8217;s contact info<\/a> for clerks around the state. Remember, a new law allows 17-year-olds who will be 18 by the general election on Nov. 8 to <a href=\"http:\/\/nmpolitics.net\/index\/2016\/04\/hundreds-of-17-year-olds-register-to-vote-in-this-years-june-primaries\/\" target=\"_blank\">vote in the party primaries<\/a>\u00a0starting this year.<\/p>\n<p>Once\u00a0you&#8217;re ready to vote in the Democratic or Republican primary, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sos.state.nm.us\/Voter_Information\/County_Clerk_Information.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">click here<\/a> to find information\u00a0for your county&#8217;s clerk, whose office can tell you where to vote early or\u00a0how to request an absentee ballot. The Secretary of State&#8217;s Office has also created <a href=\"http:\/\/pollingmap.sos.state.nm.us\/\" target=\"_blank\">a handy map<\/a> that shows all early, absentee and Election Day polling places statewide. You can even search using\u00a0your address to bring up the closest locations in your county.<\/p>\n<p>If you <a href=\"https:\/\/portal.sos.state.nm.us\/OVR\/WebPages\/SampleBallot.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">click here<\/a>, you&#8217;ll be asked to enter your county, name, and date of birth to view a sample ballot that shows the choices you&#8217;ll have when you vote in the primary.<\/p>\n<p>If you aren&#8217;t sure whether\u00a0you&#8217;re registered or need to update your voter information, <a href=\"https:\/\/voterview.state.nm.us\/VoterView\/RegistrantSearch.do\" target=\"_blank\">click here<\/a> to find your registration information.<\/p>\n<p>If you prefer to wait until\u00a0Election Day to vote, it&#8217;s on June 7. Again, <a href=\"http:\/\/pollingmap.sos.state.nm.us\/\" target=\"_blank\">that cool map<\/a> can help you\u00a0figure out where to vote on Election Day.<\/p>\n<p>New Mexicans\u00a0who aren&#8217;t registered as Democrats or Republicans &#8212; and can&#8217;t or don&#8217;t want to register with one of those two parties by Tuesday &#8212; \u00a0will have to wait until Nov. 8, the day of the general election that&#8217;s open to all registered voters, to vote in this year&#8217;s\u00a0county, state and federal\u00a0elections.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tuesday is the first day Democrats and Republicans in New Mexico can vote in their party&#8217;s primaries for county, state and federal races, including president.
