Harry Teague (Photo by Heath Haussamen)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>There are dozens of still-undecided members of the U.S. House when it comes to Sunday\u2019s looming vote on health-care reform. Today Politico <a href=\"http:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/stories\/0310\/34667.html\">highlights them<\/a>, and U.S. Rep. <a href=\"http:\/\/teague.house.gov\/\">Harry Teague<\/a>, D-N.M., gets a mention.<\/p>\n<p>Under the category of \u201cThe Besieged,\u201d which is largely composed of \u201cat-risk freshman from tough districts,\u201d Teague is among those Democrats who \u201chave it worse than others: They will very likely be walking the plank by voting the party line,\u201d the article states.<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps that\u2019s why the Washington Post has moved Teague out of the undecided category. The Post, in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/wp-srv\/special\/politics\/votes\/house\/finalhealthcare\/\">a comprehensive chart<\/a> of House members\u2019 views on the legislation, lists Teague as leaning against supporting the legislation.<\/p>\n<p>There are some clues to justify placing Teague in that category.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Teague voted against the House version of the health-care reform legislation <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/2009\/11\/teague%E2%80%99s-vote-against-health-bill-wasn%E2%80%99t-a-surprise\/\">last year<\/a>, saying at the time, \u201cwe need to reform our\u00a0health care system,\u201d but the bill \u201cdoesn\u2019t do enough to rein in\u00a0insurance companies.\u201d He also said he was \u201cconcerned that American taxpayers will end up footing a nearly $900 billion tab for a bill that doesn\u2019t do enough to \u2018bend the cost curve\u2019 in a way that permanently reduces both costs and the national debt.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Teague\u2019s spokeswoman, Sara Schreiber, has said more than once this week that Teague remains concerned about the bill. \u201cCongressman Teague voted no on the House health-care bill and has expressed serious concerns about both the Senate bill and about using reconciliation instead of regular order to move this bill through the Congress,\u201d she <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/2010\/03\/teague-hasn%E2%80%99t-made-decision-on-health-care-bill-spokeswoman-says\/\">has said<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 On Thursday, Teague <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/2010\/03\/teague-backs-gop%e2%80%99s-failed-bid-to-force-direct-vote-on-health-care-bill\/\">sided with Republicans<\/a> in a failed bid to force a direct vote on the legislation, which would have disallowed the possible use of the so-called \u201cdeem-and-pass\u201d\u00a0parliamentary procedure.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As the House vote on health-care reform looms, Politico says voting for the legislation would likely be \u201cwalking the plank\u201d for U.S. Rep.
