News organizations from\u00a0Colorado, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming competed in the contest, which was sponsored by the Society of Professional Journalists&#8217; <a href=\"https:\/\/coloradospj.wordpress.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Colorado chapter<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>NMPolitics.net&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/nmpolitics.net\/index\/\" target=\"_blank\">website<\/a> won second place for general excellence, also in the category\u00a0that included\u00a0newspapers with a print circulation of 10,000-29,999 and online-only news organizations.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">&#8220;Great navigation aids that allow viewers to easily jump between content categories depending on their interests,&#8221; the judge wrote about our\u00a0website. &#8220;The &#8216;More&#8217; section at the bottom of each post is also extremely helpful.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The judge noted wanting to see\u00a0more multimedia features on our\u00a0website.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">NMPolitics.net operates on a shoestring budget. As editor and publisher, I&#8217;m\u00a0the news organization&#8217;s only staffer. We were\u00a0competing against newspapers and nonprofit news organizations with larger budgets and many staffers in this contest,\u00a0and I&#8217;m really pleased with the results.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">It&#8217;s contributions from people like you that make it happen.
