Tracking the candidates, political committees and nonprofits that are making this presidential election the most expensive in history.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.publicintegrity.org\/politics\/buying-president-2016?utm_campaign=syndication&amp;utm_source=yahoo-news&amp;utm_medium=taxonomy-link\" target=\"_blank\">Click here<\/a> to read more stories in this investigation.<\/p>\n<\/aside>\n<p>Sanders\u2019 spending spree amounted to about $9.03 per vote.<\/p>\n<p>Clinton, meanwhile, bagged more than 1 million votes while spending <a href=\"https:\/\/www.publicintegrity.org\/2016\/04\/19\/19572\/ad-spending-new-york-presidential-primary\" target=\"_blank\">about $3.8 million<\/a> on TV and radio ads \u2014 about $3.62 per vote.<\/p>\n<p>Clinton\u2019s victory added to her delegate lead in the Democratic primary, in which she has now won about 25 percent more pledged delegates than Sanders, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/interactives.ap.org\/2016\/delegate-tracker\/\" target=\"_blank\">the Associated Press<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Including superdelegates \u2014 free agents who may choose to back any candidate \u2014 Clinton is now <a href=\"https:\/\/interactives.ap.org\/2016\/delegate-tracker\/\" target=\"_blank\">roughly 450 delegates<\/a> away from clinching the Democratic Party nomination. Sanders would need to secure <a href=\"https:\/\/interactives.ap.org\/2016\/delegate-tracker\/\" target=\"_blank\">nearly 1,200 delegates<\/a> to win the party\u2019s presidential nomination.<\/p>\n<p>Math be damned, Sanders continues pressing on. His campaign is already airing TV ads ahead of the May 3 primary in Indiana, according to data provided to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.publicintegrity.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Center for Public Integrity<\/a> by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kantarmedia.com\/us\/our-solutions\/advertising-monitoring-and-evaluation\/political\" target=\"_blank\">Kantar Media\/CMAG<\/a>, an advertising tracking firm.<\/p>\n<p>Both Sanders and Clinton are also already airing ads in Connecticut, Maryland, Pennsylvania and Rhode Island, which all conduct primary elections next Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Fueled by small-dollar donors \u2014 many of whom have made <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buzzfeed.com\/johntemplon\/how-bernie-sanders-raises-all-that-money#.ny44LvYyB\" target=\"_blank\">multiple contributions<\/a> \u2014 Sanders has amassed a campaign war chest of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.publicintegrity.org\/2015\/10\/16\/18631\/see-how-much-2016-presidential-candidates-have-raised-so-far\" target=\"_blank\">more than $180 million<\/a>. This has allowed him to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.publicintegrity.org\/2016\/04\/20\/19575\/hillary-clinton-and-bernie-sanders-battle-tv-airwaves\" target=\"_blank\">outgun Clinton<\/a> on the TV airwaves for months, although the results of his massive spending have been mixed.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>For her part, Clinton has raised <a href=\"https:\/\/www.publicintegrity.org\/2015\/10\/16\/18631\/see-how-much-2016-presidential-candidates-have-raised-so-far\" target=\"_blank\">about $190 million<\/a> for her campaign, and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.publicintegrity.org\/2016\/04\/05\/19521\/how-citizens-united-helping-hillary-clinton-win-white-house\" target=\"_blank\">super PACs supporting her candidacy<\/a> have raised tens of millions of dollars in additional funds.<\/p>\n<p>While Clinton and Sanders aired <a href=\"https:\/\/www.publicintegrity.org\/2016\/04\/19\/19571\/tv-ads-new-york-democratic-primary\" target=\"_blank\">thousands of ads<\/a> in New York ahead of Tuesday\u2019s primary, Republican Party front-runner <a href=\"https:\/\/www.publicintegrity.org\/2015\/06\/16\/17488\/9-things-know-about-donald-trump\" target=\"_blank\">Donald Trump<\/a> did not air <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/mjbeckel\/status\/722562410545094656\" target=\"_blank\">a single TV ad<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The New York resident and real estate tycoon surged past rivals <a href=\"https:\/\/www.publicintegrity.org\/2015\/03\/23\/16947\/ted-cruzs-presidential-cash-hunt-commences\" target=\"_blank\">Ted Cruz<\/a> and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.publicintegrity.org\/2015\/04\/22\/17209\/9-things-know-about-john-kasich\" target=\"_blank\">John Kasich<\/a>, who largely <a href=\"https:\/\/www.publicintegrity.org\/2016\/04\/19\/19570\/sanders-falters-new-york-despite-outspending-clinton-airwaves\" target=\"_blank\">conceded the state<\/a>.
