{"id":1440,"date":"2007-03-20T11:11:00","date_gmt":"2007-03-20T17:11:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/2007\/03\/richardson-returns-from-trip-to-texas-and-oklahoma\/"},"modified":"2007-03-20T11:11:00","modified_gmt":"2007-03-20T17:11:00","slug":"richardson-returns-from-trip-to-texas-and-oklahoma","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nmpolitics.net\/index\/2007\/03\/richardson-returns-from-trip-to-texas-and-oklahoma\/","title":{"rendered":"Richardson returns from trip to Texas and Oklahoma"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a onblur=\"try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}\" href=\"http:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/_IabUCQmoheQ\/RgAV9y_zj6I\/AAAAAAAABqM\/kahxGFFaMVw\/s1600-h\/Richardsonforpresident.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer;\" src=\"http:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/_IabUCQmoheQ\/RgAV9y_zj6I\/AAAAAAAABqM\/kahxGFFaMVw\/s200\/Richardsonforpresident.jpg\" alt=\"\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5044055734060552098\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a>  <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Gov. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.richardsonforpresident.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Bill Richardson<\/a> is back in <st1:state st=\"on\">New Mexico<\/st1:State> today after a trip to <st1:state st=\"on\">Oklahoma<\/st1:State> and <st1:state st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Texas<\/st1:place><\/st1:State> on Sunday and Monday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">While in <st1:state st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Oklahoma<\/st1:place><\/st1:State>, he named Jim East, an experienced political operative, businessman and former journalist as his campaign\u2019s statewide director.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cI am supporting Bill Richardson for president because he has the proven record of balancing budgets, improving schools, and addressing our energy concerns here at home,\u201d East said in a news release. \u201cI am excited about joining the <st1:city st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:City> team and I look forward to working with the voters of <st1:state st=\"on\">Oklahoma<\/st1:State> to build support for <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:City> across the state.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">While in <st1:state st=\"on\">Texas<\/st1:State>, <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:City> was honored in a resolution by the Texas Legislature for his years of public service.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cGovernor Richardson is commendable for his public service to his state and to the entire nation,\u201d Texas Rep. Gonzalez Toureilles said in a news release. \u201cWe are proud to call him our neighbor and to welcome him to <st1:state st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Texas<\/st1:place><\/st1:State>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cI am deeply humbled to be honored by such a large and diverse body of members,\u201d <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:City> said. \u201c<st1:state st=\"on\">New Mexico<\/st1:State> shares a great deal with out <st1:state st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Texas<\/st1:place><\/st1:State> neighbors in history, culture and our Western values and traditions. I applaud the Texas Legislature for the work they do on behalf of their citizens, and I thank them for this honor, which I will always treasure.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><st1:city st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:City> also said, during his visit to <st1:city st=\"on\">Austin<\/st1:City>, that he would meet with Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez as part of his Latin American plan, and would also meet with the leaders of <st1:country-region st=\"on\">Iran<\/st1:country-region> and <st1:country-region st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Syria<\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region>. He also said he opposes a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><st1:city st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:City> attended fundraisers in <st1:city st=\"on\">Oklahoma City<\/st1:City>, <st1:city st=\"on\">Abilene<\/st1:City>, <st1:city st=\"on\">Dallas<\/st1:City> and <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">San   Antonio<\/st1:place><\/st1:City>. His campaign\u2019s first federal reporting deadline is only about two weeks away, and we\u2019ll have a good idea then of how he\u2019s measuring up.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:City> had a busy two days. He says he didn\u2019t call the Legislature back the moment it adjourned on Saturday so that lawmakers could have some time to rest. But the time he gave them also happened to coincide perfectly with his previously planned presidential campaign trip.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Gov.
