The committee has done its work in secret.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The governor, lieutenant governor and Sen. <a href=\"http:\/\/legis.state.nm.us\/lcs\/legdetails.asp?Name=277&#038;Submit=Search\" target=\"_blank\">Mary Kay Papen<\/a>, D-Las Cruces, have been involved in negotiations.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">As a result, the bill will again be heard tonight in the House Business and Industry Committee. Though he didn\u2019t name the bill, Lujan said on the House floor this evening that a committee was working on \u201ca good possible solution to some of the concerns we have on some bills.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The version of <a href=\"http:\/\/legis.state.nm.us\/lcs\/_session.asp?w=com&amp;year=07&#038;chamber=S&amp;type=++&amp;number=519\" target=\"_blank\">Senate Bill 519<\/a>, sponsored by Papen, that has passed the Senate would fund an investigation to determine the extent of mismanagement that led to the housing authority system crumbling in scandal last year, and would also replace the authorities with a new system overseen by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nmmfa.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">New Mexico Mortgage Finance Authority<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Papen said she is optimistic.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cWe\u2019re trying to come up with some compromises,\u201d she said. \u201cWe\u2019re really trying to come up with something.
