{"id":1395,"date":"2007-03-12T19:22:00","date_gmt":"2007-03-13T01:22:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/2007\/03\/legislature-sends-capital-outlay-bill-to-governor\/"},"modified":"2007-03-12T19:22:00","modified_gmt":"2007-03-13T01:22:00","slug":"legislature-sends-capital-outlay-bill-to-governor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nmpolitics.net\/index\/2007\/03\/legislature-sends-capital-outlay-bill-to-governor\/","title":{"rendered":"Legislature sends capital outlay bill to governor"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a onblur=\"try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}\" href=\"http:\/\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/_IabUCQmoheQ\/RfX9C-6EkjI\/AAAAAAAABgY\/CoHlIyR2va4\/s1600-h\/Legislature.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer;\" src=\"http:\/\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/_IabUCQmoheQ\/RfX9C-6EkjI\/AAAAAAAABgY\/CoHlIyR2va4\/s400\/Legislature.jpg\" alt=\"\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5041213585599271474\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a>The Legislature sent Gov. <a href=\"http:\/\/governor.state.nm.us\/\" target=\"_blank\">Bill Richardson<\/a> a $622-million capital outlay bill this evening, giving the governor three days to act on it and assuring time at the end of the week to override vetoes before the session ends at noon on Saturday.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The approval comes the same day that lawmakers sent the $5.7-billion <a href=\"http:\/\/legis.state.nm.us\/lcs\/_session.asp?chamber=H&#038;type=++&#038;number=2&#038;year=07\" target=\"_blank\">state budget<\/a> to <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city>, giving him until Thursday to act on it. <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> will be busy, having also planned a trip to the East Coast for his presidential campaign that will last all day on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><a href=\"http:\/\/legis.state.nm.us\/lcs\/_session.asp?chamber=S&#038;type=++&#038;number=827&#038;Submit=Search&#038;year=07\" target=\"_blank\">Senate Bill 827<\/a>, sponsored by <a href=\"http:\/\/legis.state.nm.us\/lcs\/legdetails.asp?Name=254&amp;Submit=Search\" target=\"_blank\">Pete Campos<\/a>, D-Las Vegas, appropriates more than $622 million for capital outlay projects. Coupled with a pair of other bills, <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Campos<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> told the Senate the state is appropriating more than $760 million for infrastructure this year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cIt\u2019s a good investment in <st1:state st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">New Mexico<\/st1:place><\/st1:state>\u2019s future,\u201d he said before the Senate approved the measure.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Earlier in the evening, House members gave themselves a standing ovation after unanimously approving the bill.
