Michael Sanchez&#8217;s law office to meet with him.<\/p>\n<p>You explain that:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>you are in charge of an endeavor employing 30,000.<\/li>\n<li>you have a code of ethics and specific standards of conduct and competence.<\/li>\n<li>you are interested in holding every employee, from the least to the most, actually and honestly accountable to those ethics and standards.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You ask the senator and long-time lawyer:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>If I paid you enough money, <i>can you<\/i> design a system that provides honest to God accountability to meaningful standards of conduct and competence while those employees are at work?<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Then you ask him:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>And <i>will you<\/i>?<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I&#8217;m going to suggest that Sanchez&#8217;s\u00a0answer to the first question would\u00a0be; oh yeah, hell yeah, I can do that.<\/p>\n<p>The answer to the second question,\u00a0<i>after it occurs to him that he himself\u00a0<\/i><i>would be held accountable to\u00a0<\/i><i>meaningful standards of conduct\u00a0<\/i><i>and competence under his system,\u00a0<\/i>would be different.<\/p>\n<p>He&#8217;d show you the door.<\/p>\n<p>Sen. Sanchez <u>can<\/u> reform government and end the cultures of public corruption and incompetence in state government. He just\u00a0<u>doesn&#8217;t want to<\/u>.<\/p>\n<p>And the people aren&#8217;t ready, yet, to rise up and make him.<\/p>\n<p><em>Ched MacQuigg is a retired shop teacher and <a href=\"http:\/\/ched-macquigg.blogspot.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">blogger<\/a>.
