{"id":1273,"date":"2007-02-16T12:35:00","date_gmt":"2007-02-16T18:35:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/2007\/02\/lcps-interim-superintendent-finalists-announced\/"},"modified":"2007-02-16T12:35:00","modified_gmt":"2007-02-16T18:35:00","slug":"lcps-interim-superintendent-finalists-announced","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nmpolitics.net\/index\/2007\/02\/lcps-interim-superintendent-finalists-announced\/","title":{"rendered":"LCPS interim superintendent finalists announced"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a onblur=\"try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}\" href=\"http:\/\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/_IabUCQmoheQ\/RdX5oTSe5sI\/AAAAAAAAA_M\/KpxO_49N5_4\/s1600-h\/LCPS+logo.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer;\" src=\"http:\/\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/_IabUCQmoheQ\/RdX5oTSe5sI\/AAAAAAAAA_M\/KpxO_49N5_4\/s200\/LCPS+logo.jpg\" alt=\"\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5032202629424277186\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a>Bruce Hegwer of Elephant Butte, Stan Rounds of Hobbs, and Herb Torres of Las Cruces are finalists for interim superintendent of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lcps.k12.nm.us\/\" target=\"_blank\">Las Cruces Public Schools<\/a>, the district has announced.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The three were selected from among five individuals who were interviewed Thursday by a School Board-appointed advisory interview committee, said Jo Galvan, district communications director.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cEach of these educators is well-known and well-respected throughout the state,\u201d Galvan said. \u201cThey will be interviewed by the School Board next Tuesday, which is the same day a decision is expected on which one will lead the school district for the next year.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Hegwer retired from public education in 2004 after serving five years as superintendent of the Truth or <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:placename st=\"on\">Consequences<\/st1:placename> <st1:placename st=\"on\">Municipal<\/st1:placename>  <st1:placetype st=\"on\">Schools<\/st1:placetype><\/st1:place>. He is currently an independent educational contractor and adjunct professor for <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:placename st=\"on\">Western<\/st1:placename> <st1:placename st=\"on\">New Mexico<\/st1:placename> <st1:placetype st=\"on\">University<\/st1:placetype><\/st1:place>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Rounds retired from the Hobbs Municipal Schools in January 2005 after serving as superintendent for 10 years. He is currently the owner, chief operating officer and lobbyist for CDR Services, Inc.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Herb Torres is an instructor for the Educational Management and Development Department with the New Mexico State University College of Education, and has held that position since 2002.
