A second offense is a misdemeanor punishable by up to a year in prison, and further offenses are fourth-degree felonies punishable by up to 18 months in prison.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Garcia said she will meet with state Rep. <a href=\"http:\/\/legis.state.nm.us\/lcs\/legdetails.asp?Name=303&amp;Submit=Search\" target=\"_blank\">Peter Wirth<\/a>, D-Santa Fe, on Thursday to discuss the legislation. Wirth will carry it in the House, where it must also pass before going to the governor\u2019s desk.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cI think I\u2019ll be OK in the House,\u201d Garcia said. \u201cOf course, I\u2019ll have to work it.\u201d <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The New Mexico Senate has voted 31-11 to outlaw cockfighting.
