Kate Nash of the Albuquerque Tribune is <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.scripps.com\/albq\/state\/2007\/02\/senate_to_consider_an_end_to_c.html\" target=\"_blank\">blogging live<\/a> from the hearing, giving us a way to keep up with the action despite the fact that funding that was approved last year to Webcast legislative action hasn\u2019t led to such debates actually being broadcast on the Internet.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><a href=\"http:\/\/legis.state.nm.us\/lcs\/_session.asp?w=com&#038;year=07&#038;chamber=S&#038;type=++&#038;number=10\" target=\"_blank\">Senate Bill 10<\/a>, sponsored by Sen. <a href=\"http:\/\/legis.state.nm.us\/lcs\/legdetails.asp?Name=261&#038;Submit=Search\" target=\"_blank\">Mary Jane Garcia<\/a>, D-Do\u00f1a Ana, has been subject over the course of several hours today to a multitude of attempts to kill or neuter it. The only proposed amendment that has been approved is one that makes cockfighting a petty misdemeanor on a first offense.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The bill previously made it a misdemeanor, with a maximum prison sentence of 364 days. Petty misdemeanors carry half that prison time.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The bill would now make it a misdemeanor on a second offense and a felony \u2013 with a maximum of 18 months in prison \u2013 on a third or subsequent offense.
