\"\"<\/a>Gov. Bill Richardson raised about $60,000 during a quick campaign stop in El Paso<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> on Monday, the El Paso Times<\/a> is reporting. <\/p>\n

Meanwhile, a national survey done by Rasmussen Reports<\/a> has Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> getting trounced in a presidential election by Republican Rudy Giuliani, but polling close to even with Republican John McCain.<\/p>\n

Richardson<\/st1:city> made the trip to El Paso<\/st1:city> following a visit to Las Cruces<\/st1:place><\/st1:city>. About 100 supporters of his presidential campaign turned out at a private home on the city\u2019s east side.<\/p>\n

<\/o:p><\/p>\n

The governor continued campaigning this morning before flying back to Santa Fe<\/st1:place><\/st1:city>, the Times reported.<\/p>\n

<\/o:p><\/p>\n

He\u2019s going to need all the cash he can raise to improve his name recognition. The national telephone survey of 800 likely voters, conducted Jan. 22-23, found that Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> was viewed favorably by 35 percent of Americans and unfavorably by 27 percent. His biggest problem was that he is unknown to 38 percent.<\/p>\n

<\/o:p><\/p>\n

The good news for Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city>, Rasmussen found, was that he was running nearly even with McCain, generally considered the GOP frontrunner for the 2008 nomination. McCain polled at 43 percent to Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city>\u2019s 39 percent.<\/p>\n

<\/o:p><\/p>\n

Against Giuliani, however, Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city>\u2019s showing was dismal: The poll had him losing 49-34 percent.<\/p>\n

The poll has a margin of error of four percentage points.<\/p>\n
