Bill Richardson \u201chas expanded what I think is corrupt conduct in government in New Mexico, and people of New Mexico have accepted it,\u201d John Dendahl is leaving New Mexico, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.abqjournal.com\/north\/533239north_news01-27-07.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Albuquerque Journal<\/a> is reporting.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Dendahl, who was trounced by <st1:city st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:city> in last year\u2019s gubernatorial race, said that corruption and family considerations are leading him and his wife to move to the <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Denver<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> area, where they have children and grandchildren.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">As a former state Republican Party chair, Dendahl has a reputation as a thug. When he became a candidate, he tried to display a calmer style, but it didn\u2019t resonate with voters, who let <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> get away with not debating his opponent during the election season.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> ended up getting a record 69 percent of the vote.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Dendahl told the Journal that corruption is so widespread in the state that he doesn\u2019t see those who stand up to it making \u201cmuch of a difference for the foreseeable future.\u201d He said many won\u2019t fight it because they benefit from it, and others are afraid.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Dendahl was controversial even within his own party, and many Democrats, Republicans and independents will be glad to see him go. Others, most Republicans, but also a few outside the party, defend him as the man he claims to be \u2013 one of the few who has stood up to widespread corruption. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Saying Gov.
