\"\"<\/a>Supporters of Gov. Bill Richardson\u2019s presidential run who are members of the Yahoo! Group Bill Richardson for President 2008<\/a> have been discussing recent Internet buzz about the governor\u2019s behavior toward women. <\/p>\n

<\/o:p><\/p>\n

Since he announced Sunday that he\u2019s running for president, the Internet has been full of allegations and rumors that Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> has certain indiscretions in his past that should concern Democrats, that he behaves inappropriately around women and has, at times, made lewd gestures toward them.<\/p>\n

<\/o:p><\/p>\n

Group member Eli Blake wrote in a posting on the site that such talk is \u201ccrap.\u201d<\/p>\n

<\/o:p><\/p>\n

\u201cJust keep in mind that Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> just beat John Dendahl, former head of the N.M. GOP. My own experience with Mr. Dendahl is that he is a real snake in the grass and there\u2019s nowhere he won\u2019t go or strategy he won\u2019t try to tar Democrats,\u201d Blake wrote. \u201cSo if he had ammunition, he would certainly have fired it.\u201d<\/p>\n

<\/o:p><\/p>\n

He called Steve Clemmons<\/a>, who first disclosed publicly an incident in which Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> allegedly made a lewd gesture toward a woman, a \u201clow-level blogger.\u201d<\/p>\n

<\/o:p><\/p>\n

Others weren\u2019t so certain. Group member Susan H. wrote that Clemmons isn\u2019t a \u201clow-level blogger. He\u2019s a reputable professional journalist and a liberal.\u201d She pointed out that Clemmons isn\u2019t \u201cmaking up this stuff entirely,\u201d noting Lt. Gov. Diane Denish\u2019s comments last year about Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> poking her and touching her thighs.<\/p>\n

She notes that another reputable blogger also brought up concerns about Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city>, and that the two \u201cwouldn\u2019t have mentioned the rumors had they not hear more \u2013 and some things that disturbed them \u2013 that they chose not to put in print.\u201d<\/p>\n

<\/o:p><\/p>\n

\u201cFrankly, if he does \u2018wander,\u2019 that\u2019s not a deal-breaker for me,\u201d Susan H. wrote. \u201cSee Bill Clinton. But if he sexually harasses women, that\u2019s another matter.\u201d<\/p>\n

<\/o:p><\/p>\n

Group member Mike Kruger wrote that he has a friend in the Democratic National Committee who said he had heard about Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city>\u2019s \u201cwanderings\u201d last year.<\/p>\n

<\/o:p><\/p>\n

\u201cThe moral of the story is that Gov. Richardson needs to head these rumors off at the pass or get out of the race,\u201d Kruger wrote. \u201cHe is a smart man, with a good staff. He must have known these rumors were out there and must feel confident they are untrue to throw his hat in the ring.\u201d<\/p>\n

Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> has said he is confident he\u2019ll survive the public vetting process, but has yet to publicly address his treatment of women, allegations of indiscretions, or similar issues. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
