Doctors may also have to remove part of his colon, he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cThis is kind of scary, but I feel alright about it,\u201d said Evans, 66. \u201cI feel pretty confident I\u2019ll be alright.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Evans is scheduled to go into surgery early this afternoon. He said doctors don\u2019t yet know how long the surgery will take.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Evans has been hospitalized since experiencing pain in his abdomen just over a week ago. He had his gallbladder removed Tuesday and, after that, doctors discovered the tumor.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Even as he was preparing to go into surgery, Evans, a tireless worker who represents District 4, was complaining about having to cancel a trip to <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Santa Fe<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> that he planned this week to lobby for capital outlay money. But he said work can\u2019t be his current focus, and he plans to spend the rest of the week in the hospital.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cMy concentration now is on getting well,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">County spokesman Jess Williams said he expects Evans will recover.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cEveryone at <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:placename st=\"on\">Do\u00f1a<\/st1:placename>  <st1:placename st=\"on\">Ana<\/st1:placename> <st1:placename st=\"on\">County<\/st1:placename><\/st1:place> has Commissioner Evans and his family in our thoughts and prayers,\u201d he said. \u201cHe\u2019s tough as nails and we anticipate he\u2019ll be fine. We sure hope so.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Evans has about two years left on his second and final term as a county commissioner.
