{"id":11270,"date":"2010-01-13T17:15:05","date_gmt":"2010-01-14T00:15:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/?p=11270"},"modified":"2010-01-13T22:41:39","modified_gmt":"2010-01-14T05:41:39","slug":"another-republican-enters-prc-race","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nmpolitics.net\/index\/2010\/01\/another-republican-enters-prc-race\/","title":{"rendered":"Another Republican enters PRC race"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_11271\"  class=\"wp-caption module image alignright\" style=\"max-width: 325px;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-11271\" title=\"Estrada, Jamie\" src=\"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/Estrada-Jamie.jpg\" alt=\"Jamie Estrada\" width=\"325\" height=\"293\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nmpolitics.net\/index\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/Estrada-Jamie.jpg 325w, https:\/\/nmpolitics.net\/index\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/Estrada-Jamie-300x270.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 325px) 100vw, 325px\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Jamie Estrada<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Las Cruces native and businessman <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jamieestrada.com\/\">Jamie Estrada<\/a> announced today that he\u2019s running for the District 5 seat on the Public Regulation Commission.<\/p>\n<p>A news release from Estrada, a Republican, stated that the PRC \u201cis in need of independent, qualified and strong leadership.\u00a0Having successfully worked in both the private and government sectors, Jamie Estrada will bring strong administrative and industry expertise to the PRC.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/2009\/08\/a-microcosm-of-nms-corrupt-political-system\/\">recent conduct<\/a> by some PRC members has affected the commission\u2019s productivity and has caused the public to lose confidence in the current administration,\u201d the release states. \u201cEstrada\u00a0will work to restore the public trust and get the PRC back on track for the people of New Mexico.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the weeks and months ahead, I look forward to hearing from voters across central and\u00a0southwestern New Mexico about their concerns and how the PRC can better protect consumers and make New Mexico more competitive,\u201d Estrada said.<\/p>\n<p>Estrada is a business and international trade policy consultant. From 2005 to 2009, he served as U.S. deputy assistant secretary of commerce for manufacturing. More recently, he served as the acting campaign manager for Do\u00f1a Ana County District Attorney <a href=\"http:\/\/susanamartinez2010.com\/\">Susana Martinez\u2019s<\/a> run for governor.<\/p>\n<p>Before joining the Bush Administration in 2005, Estrada worked for Intel in Rio Rancho and then in Washington, D.C.<\/p>\n<p>Estrada was born and raised in Las Cruces.\u00a0He has bachelor\u2019s degrees in finance and economics from New Mexico State University and a master\u2019s degree in business from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.<\/p>\n<p>While in college, he interned in the office for then-U.S. Sen. <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Pete_Domenici\">Pete Domenici<\/a>, R-N.M.<\/p>\n<p>At this point, one other Republican is running for the PRC seat \u2013 former Do\u00f1a Ana County Commissioner <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dkentevans.com\/\">Kent Evans<\/a>. One Democrat has entered the race &#8212; former Do\u00f1a Ana County Commissioner and congressional candidate\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/billmccamley.com\/\">Bill McCamley<\/a>. Two other Democrats, Do\u00f1a Ana County Assessor\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/donaanacounty.org\/assessor\/\">Gary Perez<\/a> and former Do\u00f1a Ana County Commissioner Gilbert Apodaca, have said they are considering running.<\/p>\n<p><em>As I\u2019ve disclosed in the past, I\u2019m friends with McCamley.
