Joseph Cervantes of <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:city st=\"on\">Las Cruces<\/st1:city><\/st1:place> as chair of the Judiciary Committee had nothing to do with last year\u2019s battle over who would lead the House.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Cervantes supported Ken Martinez\u2019s failed bid to become speaker.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Lujan told the Journal the same thing he told Cervantes: His decision had to do with Cervantes\u2019 bid for majority leader.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cTo me, it seemed (Cervantes) wasn\u2019t happy or satisfied being judiciary chair,\u201d Lujan said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The message here seems to be that Lujan controls everything. You take what he gives, or you get nothing at all.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Cervantes had this to say to the Journal:<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cAs we say on the farm: You may not want too many roosters in the henhouse,\u201d he said. \u201cThat pretty well sums it up \u2013 especially in the year of cockfighting.\u201d <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Speaker of the House Ben Lujan told the Albuquerque Journal that his move to replace Rep.
