{"id":10988,"date":"2010-01-07T19:35:38","date_gmt":"2010-01-08T02:35:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/?p=10988"},"modified":"2010-01-08T10:58:36","modified_gmt":"2010-01-08T17:58:36","slug":"arnold-jones-one-ups-denish-on-transparency","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nmpolitics.net\/index\/2010\/01\/arnold-jones-one-ups-denish-on-transparency\/","title":{"rendered":"Arnold-Jones one-ups Denish on transparency"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_7586\"  class=\"wp-caption module image alignleft\" style=\"max-width: 325px;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-7586\" title=\"Arnold-Jones3\" src=\"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/Arnold-Jones3.jpg\" alt=\"Janice Arnold-Jones (Photo by Heath Haussamen)\" width=\"325\" height=\"270\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nmpolitics.net\/index\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/Arnold-Jones3.jpg 325w, https:\/\/nmpolitics.net\/index\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/Arnold-Jones3-300x249.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 325px) 100vw, 325px\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Janice Arnold-Jones (Photo by Heath Haussamen)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Republican gubernatorial candidate <a href=\"http:\/\/janiceforgovernor.com\/\">Janice Arnold-Jones<\/a> has one-upped Democratic candidate <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dianedenish.com\/\">Diane Denish<\/a> in the battle over who\u2019s being the most transparent about her campaign\u2019s funding.<\/p>\n<p>Arnold-Jones has posted on her Web site information about <a href=\"http:\/\/janiceforgovernor.com\/Supporters\/tabid\/117\/Default.aspx\">every campaign contribution<\/a> she\u2019s received to date \u2013 168 contributions totaling a little more than $53,000.<\/p>\n<p>And the campaign plans to keep the list of contributions current, adding new contributions to the Web site each time one is received.<\/p>\n<p>Right now, the list includes the names of the contributors, the cities they\u2019re from and the amount they gave. By the weekend, Campaign Manager Steve Kush said, the dates of the contributions will be added.<\/p>\n<p>Putting the information online fulfills a campaign pledge Arnold-Jones made to her supporters, Kush said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe made the promise, she\u2019s keeping the promise, just like she always has,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Denish has voluntarily been releasing campaign finance reports \u2013 lists of contributions and expenditures \u2013 quarterly, though in off-election years it\u2019s only required twice. She plans to voluntarily release another report in the next couple of weeks for the fourth quarter of 2009, and earlier this week accused the GOP candidates of operating <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/2010\/01\/denish-says-gop-candidates-campaigning-%E2%80%98in-the-dark%E2%80%99\/\">\u201cin the dark\u201d<\/a> for not agreeing to do the same.<\/p>\n<p>The other Republican gubernatorial candidates &#8212; Albuquerque business owners\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.allenweh2010.com\/\">Allen Weh <\/a>and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/turnerforgovernor.com\/\">Doug Turner<\/a> and Do\u00f1a Ana County District Attorney <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/2010\/01\/domenici-jr-may-run-for-governor\/%20susana%20Martinez%20governorTogether,%20we%20can%20make\">Susana Martinez<\/a> \u2013 have not responded to my question about whether they would match Denish in releasing a fundraising report this month.<\/p>\n<p>But Arnold-Jones has now upped the ante.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPosting the names and amount donated by our financial contributors is clearly the most transparent way a candidate can operate,\u201d Arnold-Jones said today in a news release. \u201cOur approach, while voluntary, exceeds what all the other campaigns for governor are doing, including that of Lt. Gov.
