Bill Richardson will be the next 2008 hopeful to give up hope.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Chuck Todd of the National Journal <a href=\"http:\/\/nationaljournal.com\/todd.htm\" target=\"_blank\">reported Wednesday<\/a> that \u201cthere\u2019s some chatter that the next candidate to follow Warner\u2019s and Bayh\u2019s stares into the \u201908 abyss and pull the ripcord is New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson. At the end of the day, these folks claim, he\u2019s a pragmatist. His r\u00e9sum\u00e9 is gold, but the novelty factor (he\u2019d be the first Hispanic) is getting eclipsed by Clinton and Obama.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cHe does seem intent on giving this a try,\u201d Todd wrote. \u201cLet\u2019s see what the money reports show in the spring.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Despite his comments, Todd ranked <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> as the fifth most likely candidate to secure the Democratic Party\u2019s nomination. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A national political columnist is reporting that some Democratic Party strategists think Gov.
