Bill Richardson to run for president are anxiously awaiting an expected announcement that should come sometime in the next 12 days.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Others from around the nation are already organizing with the expectation that <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> will seek the Democratic presidential nomination in 2008.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:city st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:city><\/st1:place> has said he\u2019ll announce his decision before the Legislature convenes on Jan. 16.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The blogger <a href=\"http:\/\/arationalanimal.blogsome.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">A Rational Animal<\/a> wrote Wednesday that he asked <st1:city st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:city> whether he would run for president at the inaugural party in <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Santa Fe<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> earlier this week.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cI got a response that, to my mind, says that it is indeed a done deal,\u201d the blogger wrote. \u201cAnd A Rational Animal is now officially joining the \u2018Draft Richardson\u2019 movement.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">That sentiment exists on sites across the Internet. Members of the Bill Richardson for President <a href=\"http:\/\/groups.yahoo.com\/group\/Bill_Richardson_For_President_2008\/\" target=\"_blank\">Yahoo! Group<\/a> have been discussing for weeks their thoughts on why <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> is the best candidate for their home states.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Tyson, who runs the site <a href=\"http:\/\/florida4richardson.blogspot.com\/2006\/11\/why-governor-richardson-works-for.html\" target=\"_blank\">Florida for Richardson<\/a>, wrote that the governor is the right candidate in part because his Hispanic heritage would resonate with South Florida voters and also because he is a moderate candidate, which would play well in the centrist state. Kristen, who runs the site <a href=\"http:\/\/mdforrichardson.blogspot.com\/2006\/11\/why-bill-is-good-for-maryland.html\" target=\"_blank\">Maryland for Richardson<\/a>, supports <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:city st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:city><\/st1:place> in part because she likes his stances on energy, stem-cell research and education.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Richard, who runs the site <a href=\"http:\/\/www.freesuukyi.org\/sc4richardson08\/\" target=\"_blank\">South Carolina for Richardson<\/a>, wrote recently that other candidates won\u2019t measure up against <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city>\u2019s diverse experience as a congressman, energy secretary, U.N. ambassador and governor.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cIt is now just a matter of time before more and more people begin talking about his record,\u201d Richard wrote. \u201cIn today\u2019s world stage the nation longs for a respected, established diplomat. The nation longs for someone with the drive of Edwards and Obama but with the street credit to back up the talk. That is <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:city st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:city><\/st1:place>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">A group of 70 people in <st1:state st=\"on\">Nevada<\/st1:state> recently urged <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:city st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:city><\/st1:place> to run for president and formed the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.draftrichardson.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Draft Richardson<\/a> group. Theresa Navarro, a Democratic Party activist and real estate agent from <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Reno<\/st1:place><\/st1:city>, was among them.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">She told me <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> is the best choice for president in 2008.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cHe\u2019s very good on foreign policy and he\u2019s a border governor,\u201d she said. \u201cI think he\u2019s what our country is looking for.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Members of the Yahoo! Group are also discussing a possible meeting in the next few months, either in person or via the Internet, to get organized and brainstorm ways to increase <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city>\u2019s name recognition across the nation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Group member Bentley Davis from <st1:state st=\"on\">Maine<\/st1:state> wrote to other members about a discussion about <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> during a visit with family members over the holidays.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cSitting around the holiday table with my extended family, many did not know of him or his impressive r\u00e9sum\u00e9,\u201d <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Davis<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> wrote. \u201cOur job, as supporters, is to let people know how terrific he is \u2013 by blogging, by writing letters, by telling our friends, families, and coworkers. Once more people know, I am sure he will garner the support he needs.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">All <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city>\u2019s supporters need now is for him to officially jump into the race. Navarro said she would work for <st1:city st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:city>, if she was asked, and she\u2019s anxious to learn whether <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> will run.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cI\u2019m glad that he\u2019ll announce a decision soon,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Many Democratic Party activists who want Gov.
