King seeks to have Sloan removed from office

Public Regulation Commissioner Carol Sloan was sentenced today to five years on probation for felony convictions of aggravated battery and aggravated burglary. Being a convicted felon makes Sloan ineligible to hold office, and Attorney General Gary King filed a petition with the New Mexico Supreme Court asking that she be removed from the position. CBS News reports that there are 237 millionaires in Congress. That’s 44 percent of our Federal lawmakers. Millionaires represent only 1 percent of the general population. We need more candidates who can campaign effectively on a limited budget. Continue Reading

McCain’s PAC gave money to Weh

Sarah Palin’s endorsement of Susana Martinez in the GOP gubernatorial primary race has received a lot of attention, but a $2,500 contribution from U.S. Sen. John McCain’s political committee to Allen Weh, one of Martinez’s opponents, has gone largely unnoticed – until now. Weh never announced the March 26 contribution, and he isn’t talking about it now.
