The fans include those who quote Bill Shankly: “Some people think football is a matter of life and death. I assure you, it’s much more serious than that.” Other fans stand up in the stands and shout, “Kick a homerun.” I am of an age where I can honestly say I do not remember my high school football team ever losing a game.
