Non-scientific poll says Marquardt will lose

The vast majority of those who voted in last week’s non-scientific poll on this site said Rep. Terry Marquardt, R-Alamogordo, will lose his bid for re-election after 12 years in the House.

Democratic challenger Nate Cote received 146 votes, or 71 percent, of the 207 votes cast in the poll. Marquardt received 61 votes, or 29 percent.

Keep in mind that, though the majority of precincts in House District 53 are located in Doña Ana County, Marquardt lives in Alamogordo, and this Las Cruces-centered blog likely has fewer readers on that side of the Organ Mountains.
