Wiviott’s self-financing tops $1 million

Democratic 3rd Congressional District candidate Don Wiviott has pumped another $100,000 into his campaign, bringing his self-financing to more than $1 million for the primary race.

According to Federal Election Commission records, Wiviott’s newest loan was made on Tuesday, and brings the total he has loaned his campaign to $1,090,000. It’s more than any other candidate has contributed to his own campaign in New Mexico this year.

Wiviott has said since he entered the race that he will spend whatever it takes to win. He’s in a hotly contested primary race with five other Democrats, the most prominent being Public Regulation Commissioner Ben R. Luján, the son of the speaker of the state House. Wiviott has been rapidly spending money to flood the airwaves with several different television commercials.

At the end of March, Wiviott reported that he had raised just under $110,000 from outside contributors to his House campaign.
