Bill Clinton, Kennedy to visit state today

The Hillary Clinton campaign has again changed the time that doors will open for today’s rally with Bill Clinton in Albuquerque.

Doors will now open at 2 p.m. for the event, which will be held at the Johnson Center on the University of New Mexico campus. Those interested in attending are encouraged to RSVP online by clicking here or by calling (877) 447-2408.

Meanwhile, the campaign has confirmed that Hillary Clinton will be in New Mexico sometime Saturday, but not released further details. She will be in California in the morning, and also plans a stop in Arizona on Saturday.

Sen. Edward Kennedy, D-Mass., will appear today at two events in New Mexico to campaign for Barack Obama. Doors open at 10 a.m. for the event at the National Hispanic Cultural Center’s Salon Ortega. The center is located at 1701 4th Street in Albuquerque. Those who plan to attend should RSVP to tedwards@barackobama.com.

Doors open at 1:30 p.m. for the event at Santa Fe Community College’s Jemez Room One. The college is located at 6401 Richards Avenue in Santa Fe. Those who plan to attend this event should also RSVP to tedwards@barackobama.com.

As I reported Wednesday evening, Obama will hold public events in Santa Fe and Albuquerque on Friday.

Video of today’s events with Kennedy and Bill Clinton will be posted on KNME’s Web site. It’s not clear whether the events will be broadcast live or the video will be posted after the events.

Update, 8:45 a.m.

Former state Attorney General Patricia Madrid, who had been supporting John Edwards until he dropped out on Wednesday, said today she is endorsing Obama. She will appear at the Albuquerque event with Kennedy today and both Obama events on Friday.

This is a big endorsement for Obama, who has worked hard to gain support from visible Hispanics.
