Bill Clinton to campaign at UNM on Thursday

Former President Bill Clinton’s public rally for his wife’s presidential campaign will be held Thursday at 3 p.m. at the Johnson Center on the University of New Mexico campus in Albuquerque.

His “Solutions for America” rally will kick off a series of public events in advance of New Mexico’s Democratic Caucus, which is being held a week from today.

The public is invited to attend the event at UNM, and doors open at 3 p.m. Those interested in attending are encouraged to RSVP online by clicking here or by calling (877) 447-2408. Clinton plans to host a private fundraiser in Santa Fe before the public event in Albuquerque.

Clinton’s Thursday visit will be followed by a Friday visit from Barack Obama, who will hold public events in Santa Fe and Albuquerque. Hillary Clinton will also visit before Feb. 5. She’s expected to be in the Albuquerque/Santa Fe area on Saturday, but the campaign has not confirmed that.

Also sometime before Feb. 5, the Clintons’ daughter Chelsea is expected to campaign in Las Cruces for her mother, but that has also not been confirmed by the Clinton campaign. Obama’s campaign has confirmed that U.S. Sen. Edward Kennedy, D-Mass., will be in New Mexico to campaign for Obama. I’ll publish more details on all events as soon as they are released.

I’m hoping to travel to cover some of the visits that will be held outside Las Cruces. Some events will also be broadcast on television and the Internet, and I’ll provide information on that as it becomes available. Bill Clinton’s rally will be broadcast on the Web site of KNME-TV in Albuquerque.

A prior version of this posting said the doors would open at 2:30 p.m. for the Bill Clinton event. After this article was published, the Clinton campaign changed the time to 3 p.m.
