Sharon Thomas has a strong lead in the Las Cruces City Council District 6 race with only absentee and early ballots counted.
Thomas currently has 293 votes, or 53 percent. Karen Trujillo has 122 votes, or 22 percent. Lawrence Joy has 56 votes, or 10 percent. Berchard Ray Shipley has 52 votes, or 9 percent. Patrick J. Curran has 35 votes, or 6 percent.
The votes from the five polling places are yet to be counted. Stay tuned.
