Dems can request presidential caucus absentee ballots

Monday was the first day registered Democrats in New Mexico could begin requesting absentee ballots for the Feb. 5 presidential preference caucus.

You can download the ballot request form by clicking here.

The party will begin mailing out absentee ballots on Jan. 12 to those who have requested them. The deadline to request a ballot is 5 p.m. on Jan. 21. Returned ballots must be postmarked by Jan. 28 to be counted.

The ballots will be counted on Feb. 5.

Only Democrats are holding a special caucus on Feb. 5. The state’s GOP opted against moving up its presidential nominating contest, and will hold it in conjunction with the June primary election.

There will be 184 caucus sites for Democrats on Feb. 5, including 16 in Doña Ana County.
