For my 40th birthday, will you support my journalism?

Friends,

I want to thank everyone who has donated to help get NMPolitics.net through the first 11 months of 2018. I wasn’t sure in January that we’d still be publishing at this point – but we are, and it’s all because of you!

I’m trying to finish the year strong and head into 2019 with momentum to keep bringing you independent watchdog journalism during a critical year of change in both New Mexico and Washington, D.C.

With that in mind – and on my 40th birthday (yeah, that’s actually today) – here’s my fundraising ask for December: NMPolitics.net needs to end the year having raised $40,000 in donations. We’re a few hundred dollars closer to that goal thanks to a surprise fundraiser Damien Willis did for us this weekend. (Thanks Damien!)

We still need to raise an additional $1,417.94 by Dec. 31 to reach our goal of raising $40,000 this year.

Will you help us? You can make a one-time donation or sign up to make automatic, monthly contributions at nmpolitics.net/index/donate.

Individual donations account for 85 percent of NMPolitics.net’s funding this year, so it’s important that we reach our goal. I’m not getting rich doing this work. I’m trying to keep the lights on.

As an additional incentive, I’ll mail an NMPolitics.net magnet to anyone who donates at least $60 this month or signs up to make automatic donations of $5 or more per month. That was a popular incentive when I first tried it out in September, so I’m doing it again.

We are working hard to prepare for the changes in Santa Fe and Washington that are coming in January. You’ll see Q&As with Gov.-elect Michelle Lujan Grisham and U.S. Rep.-elect Xochitl Torres Small on our website later this month. I’ve also been digging into the unprecedented number of absentee ballots that helped carry Torres Small to victory, and I’ll publish a story this month that helps explain how that happened.

Our lawsuit seeking public records from Spaceport America is also proceeding. Look for news about that later this month or early in the new year. And we’ve begun discussions about doing another big, collaborative reporting project in 2019. I’m excited about what’s coming!

Again, you can donate online by clicking here. Or you can make a check out to Haussamen Publications and mail it to P.O. Box 16607, Las Cruces, NM 88004. To get a magnet, I need to receive your donation by Dec. 31.

Thanks for all you do to help me keep doing this important work!
