I’ll get right to it. Suing Spaceport America to try to win the release of public records the agency is hiding from you takes time and money. Keeping NMPolitics.net’s website and its rather large database of articles dating back to 2006 online and functioning well takes time and money. And of course, bringing you the thoughtful, nuanced and hard-hitting news and commentary you expect takes time and money.
NMPolitics.net is my livelihood. I operate it as a very small business. I do this full-time, and then some. I’m often writing a column in the early hours of the morning before everyone else in my house wakes up. I’m regularly publishing articles or moderating social media discussions late at night after I put my daughter to bed.
And every month, paying the bills is a stretch. Which brings me to my point: NMPolitics.net needs to raise another $1,200 by the end of October to meet our $3,000 fundraising goal. We need your help.
If you’ve never donated, but you read our articles or participate in our social media conversations, we need you to help us keep doing this work. If you’ve given in the past but can afford to give a bit more, we need you, too.
I know it’s election season. Some of you are giving money to candidates in an election you consider one of the most important in your lifetime.
And, especially in these times, independent, local journalism is a critical protector of our democracy. We can’t fulfill that role without your support. We need you too.
You can sign up to make automatic, monthly contributions or make a one-time donation in any amount by clicking here. If you prefer to mail a check instead of giving online, make it out to Haussamen Publications and send it to P.O. Box 16607, Las Cruces, NM 88004.
NMPolitics.net is really important to me. It allows me to live in a community I love in a state I never want to leave and do work I believe in. I’m grateful for any support you’re able to provide.
