The Las Cruces Public Schools Board of Education on Thursday selected Gregory A. Ewing to be the district’s next superintendent.
Ewing comes from the Cobb County School District in Marietta, Ga., where he has been the chief accountability and research officer. You can read his resumé and application for the Las Cruces job here.
School board members voted unanimously to hire Ewing at a meeting Thursday. Ewing will start work on Dec. 5, and his 18-month contract will pay him $165,000 per year, according to Damien Willis of the Las Cruces Sun-News.
Ewing, who attended the school board meeting by phone, said taking the job would be “an honor and a privilege,” Willis tweeted.
