The Las Cruces Public Schools Board of Education has named three finalists for the district’s open superintendent job.
The finalists are (click on a name to view that candidate’s application):
- Gregory A. Ewing, chief accountability and research officer for the Cobb County School District in Marietta, Ga.
- Gregory Rodriguez, deputy superintendent for the Huntsville Independent School District in Huntsville, Texas.
- Arsenio Romero, assistant superintendent for instruction, curriculum and turnaround for the Roswell Independent School District in Roswell.
The announcement comes after the school board met in closed session to discuss its superintendent search Tuesday evening. Board members voted 5-0 in a public meeting to name the three finalists.
The school board plans to interview the three candidates on Sept. 29 and 30, according to an email from LCPS Chief Communications Officer Jo Galván. Committees made up of community members will also interview the three.
The district will hold a public forum with the candidates on Sept. 29 at 6:30 p.m. at the Oñate High School Performing Arts Center.
The district plans to hire a new superintendent by Nov. 1.
