Bernalillo County Democrats voted Saturday to replace Sen. Tim Eichenberg on the November ballot with Daniel Ivey-Soto.
Capitol Report New Mexico has the story, which was reported on Twitter by journalist Peter St. Cyr. From Capitol Report:
“Ivey-Soto edged out Vanessa Alarid 14-13 and will now be the Democratic Party nominee in this fall’s general election against former state Sen. H. Diane Snyder, the district’s Republican nominee.”
Eichenberg announced just after the June primary that he would fill out his term, which expires at the end of the year, but would drop off the 2012 ballot. He said he’s leaving the Senate for family reasons, including caring for his elderly mother and two older brothers.
As the Albuquerque Journal recently reported, the association between Eichenberg and the Bernalillo County assessor is under FBI scrutiny.
