House Speaker Ben Luján appointed a bipartisan group of lawmakers on Tuesday to investigate the possibility of impeaching embattled Public Regulation Commissioner Jerome Block Jr.
If the subcommittee finds grounds for impeachment, the House won’t likely take up the issue during the current redistricting special session, but would instead call itself into extraordinary session, possibly as soon as October.
Reps. Joseph Cervantes, D-Las Cruces, and Zach Cook, R-Ruidoso, will chair the subcommittee of the House Rules and Order of Business Committee, The Santa Fe New Mexican reported.
