Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal will join N.M. Gov. Susana Martinez and several members of Congress at a conference in Albuquerque later this month aimed at engaging Hispanics in “center-right” issues.
The “Rebuilding the American Dream” conference is sponsored by the Hispanic Leadership Network, which describes itself as a “Hispanic center-right advocacy action group.” It’s part of the right-leaning American Action Network.
Jindal’s participation in the conference, which will be held Sept. 23 and 24, was announced today in a news release.
“Governor Jindal has been a leader in promoting education reform and bringing center-right policy solutions to a state with real needs. The governor has also shown how to effectively govern, even in times of crisis and natural disasters,” HLN Executive Director Jennifer Sevilla-Korn said in a news release. “Along with New Mexico Governor Susana Martinez, national congressional leaders, and New Mexico state officials, Governor Jindal will bring insight to today’s critical issues facing the Hispanic community and all Americans.”
The conference promises to “bring together Hispanic grassroots leaders from across the country to engage in an important discussion on the policy issues affecting the Hispanic community.”
In addition to the two Republican governors, the planned speakers and panel participants include Republican state lawmakers, Martinez administration officials, and Republican U.S. Reps. Steve Pearce, Francisco “Quico” Canseco, Raúl Labrador, and Pete Sessions, in addition to national business leaders. Former U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales is also participating.
