Las Cruces Presiding Municipal Judge Melissa Miller-Byrnes has announced that she’s seeking re-election to the position, which she’s held since 1999.
The presiding judge is tasked with overseeing administration of the court in addition to hearing cases. Miller-Byrnes is a former city prosecutor and is currently president of the New Mexico Municipal Judges Association.
Miller-Byrnes is a native New Mexican, a graduate of New Mexico State University, and earned her law degree from the William Mitchell School of Law in St. Paul, Minn.
She’s married to Bart Byrnes and has two children.
