Ryan Dailey has announced his candidacy for the District 4 seat on the Las Cruces City Council, which is currently held by Nathan Small.
Dailey, a U.S. Navy veteran and lifelong Las Cruces resident, said in a news release that he’s running because he feels compelled to serve his hometown. He said public safety will be his top priority; he supports a new 911 dispatch center and more money for first responders.
“We must invest in neighborhood watch programs that are effective, responsible, and do not require residents to go through bureaucratic red tape in order to form,” he also said.
Dailey said he also supports a stronger relationship between the city council and humane society to “secure additional funding to lower the amount of euthanizations” in Las Cruces.
“It is ridiculous, in a community the size of Las Cruces, that we have overcrowding in our humane society,” he said. “We should work hand in hand with Doña Ana County to secure grants for an up-to-date building for the humane society.”
Dailey said he will have an open-door policy and pledges to be a full-time city councilor.
Aaron Henry Diaz has also entered the District 4 race.
