Former N.M. Gov. Gary Johnson will jump into the 2012 GOP presidential primary on April 21 in New Hampshire.
Johnson announced on his nonprofit’s website that he will “discuss his plans for the 2012 election” on April 21. Events start that day with a news conference at the state capitol building in Concord at 9 a.m. EST and continue with other public events throughout the day and on Friday and Saturday.

Media outlets have already confirmed that Johnson is entering the presidential race, which isn’t a surprise. Talk of the tea party favorite running for president in 2012 really started ramping up in early 2009.
And though he’s skipping the exploratory committee, Johnson formed the nonprofit Our America Initiative in 2009. Through that organization he’s been traveling around the nation to talk about issues and increase his profile.
