Meet Las Cruces’ new school board member

Barbara Hall

Meet Barbara Hall, the newest member of the Las Cruces Public Schools Board of Education. The other board members have selected Hall to fill a vacancy created by the Jan. 31 resignation of Serena Shoop.

Hall will be sworn into office on April 5. Her term lasts through Feb. 28, 2013, according to an LCPS news release.

“I look forward to working with Mrs. Hall and the rest of the board as we continue to work together on behalf of our students,” Superintendent Stan Rounds said in the release.

Five candidates applied for the position.

Hall is currently a student teacher supervisor for the College of Education at New Mexico State University. In 1992, she retired from LCPS after 26 years as a teacher and facilitator with the Advanced Education (gifted) Program.

She has a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a master’s in educational management and development, both from NMSU.
