House Republicans decided this morning to keep Tom Taylor as their leader.
The vote is secret, but Taylor, R-Farmington, defeated a challenge from Rep. Larry Larrañaga, R-Albuquerque.
House Republicans also decided to keep Keith Gardner of Roswell as their whip and Anna Crook of Clovis as their caucus chair.
“I am again honored and humbled to lead the caucus for another two years,” Taylor said in a news release. “The state needs to get its fiscal house in order and our caucus is resolute in doing just that.”
The caucus is still meeting and is expected to discuss a potential coalition to elect Rep. Joseph Cervantes, D-Las Cruces, to be speaker.
