Attorney General Gary King, a Democrat, was re-elected Tuesday night, but he thinks voters were sending him a message by giving him a hard-fought race against Republican Matt Chandler.
“I think in the AG’s office, (voters) want me to be more aggressive on some of the things the AG’s office does,” King was quoted by The New Mexico Independent as saying. “I’ll take that into account. Even though I think we’ve worked really hard to fight corruption in New Mexico, I think people want to see us be more aggressive.”
King won 53.5 percent of the vote to Chandler’s 46.5 percent.
