U.S. Rep. Martin Heinrich, D-N.M., and Republican challenger Jon Barela are nearly tied in the 1st Congressional District race.
Heinrich leads in Bernalillo County 50.53 percent to 49.47 percent.
That’s a lead of fewer than 1,200 votes. But in Valencia County, Barela leads by almost 200 votes. And Barela leads in Torrance County by about 800 votes.
That means the difference between the two candidates is currently about 200 votes out of about 60,000 tallied. Stay tuned.
