A new poll has Republican Susana Martinez leading Democrat Diane Denish by 9 points in the governor’s race.
The Rasmussen Reports poll has Martinez leading 52 percent to 43 percent with 1 percent preferring another candidate and 4 percent undecided. The poll matches with most recent polls that have shown Martinez leading by several points.
The survey of 750 likely voters was conducted Sunday and has a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points.
The poll found that 83 percent of Martinez’s supporters and 84 percent of Denish’s supporters are certain of their vote. Martinez had the support of 90 percent of Republicans, while Denish had the support of 68 percent of Democrats.
Martinez leads nearly two-to-one among voters not affiliated with either major political party.
