VIDEO: State employee telecommutes… from Illinois

OK, maybe not so forehead-slapping. (The original headline on this post was “Another forehead-slapping situation, courtesy of Big Bill.) Looks like KRQE oversold its story, and Barker failed to mention that Gillespie took a cut in pay and hours when she moved to Illinois. Here’s a story that published Wednesday in The Santa Fe New Mexican about the situation that I somehow missed.

Still a solid story, but The New Mexican article helps give a complete picture of what’s going on.

For the record, I’ve only dealt with Gillespie on a couple of occasions since she apparently left the state, but she responded to my requests in a timely manner. Of course, that’s only a fraction of the work her job requires, and it’s probably the part that’s easy to do from Illinois, because there was distance between us even when she was in Santa Fe since I live in Las Cruces.
