First, Senior Adviser David Axelrod had a trinity showing this morning on: ABC’s “This Week,” CNN’s “State of the Union” and “Fox News Sunday.”
Secondly, and no-less importantly, White House press secretary Robert Gibbs spent the morning on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”
Is this a sign of desperation or strength? You tell me.
The intention is not to over-analyze or editorialize today. I am just going to leave you with the quotes that made me think “interesting” or “did he really just say that” or “can I hold you to that?”
Gibbs’ pearls of wisdom
“I don’t think it’s surprising that Americans are frustrated after losing eight-and-a-half million jobs.”
“There is no doubt that things are getting better… there’s no doubt we are on the right path.” (NBC)
“The car is out on the ditch, the car is back on the road. The question is, are you going to give the keys back to the Republicans?” (NBC)
“Look, the president is frustrated that he hasn’t seen greater recovery efforts.” (NBC)
“The president is not going to, in a time of economic crisis, raise taxes.” (NBC)
“We have better relationship with virtually every country in this world as a result of this president. There is no doubt that we have taken foreign policy in a different direction.” (NBC)
Axelrod’s pearls of wisdom
“There is not a great desire… Even though there is some argument for additional spending in the short-run to continue to generate economic activity… there is not a great appetite for it.” (ABC)
“But Jake, we are still in the midst of a very difficult economic time. The fact that it’s much better than it was when we took over does not mean that it’s good.” (ABC)
