On the day that she’ll find out which Republican gubernatorial candidate she’s facing in November, Democrat Diane Denish sounds calm and upbeat.
“After tonight, there will be a very clear choice in November,” she said today in a phone interview. “We’re still going to be talking about the issues that matter to New Mexicans, and I think the most important thing is that there will be a clear choice.”
Five Republicans are vying for the right to take on Denish, the Democrats’ candidate for governor, in November. They are Janice Arnold-Jones, Pete Domenici Jr., Susana Martinez, Doug Turner and Allen Weh.
Martinez has been leading in the most recent polls of the race.
