Though Gov. Bill Richardson’s office hasn’t released any useful documents related to the identities of the 59 exempt employees he had laid off in January, the New Mexico Foundation for Open Government is slowly putting together the pieces of what happened.
The sunshine group has made requests to each state agency for information about exempts who were laid off and has received responses from all but 11 agencies, The Santa Fe New Mexican is reporting.

As reported by The New Mexican, FOG has received names of 22 of the 59 employees who were laid off.
Welsh said she’s getting tired of waiting for those other 11 agencies.
“We’re still pretty far from getting to the bottom of this,” the newspaper quoted her as saying.
“It goes to show how important it is in this kind of environment for the requester to spend a lot of energy on this. This is my job and I’m having a hard time following up,” Welsh said. “It should be a lot easier.”
Not responding to a request violates state law.
