Colón, Rael neck and neck in Dem lt. guv race

Democratic Lt. Gov. candidates Brian Colón (courtesy photo), left, and Lawrence Rael (photo by Heath Haussamen).

Brian Colón has 32.2 percent of the vote so far in the Democratic primary for lieutenant governor, but Lawrence Rael is right on his heels with 30.7 percent of the vote.

Jerry Ortiz y Pino and Linda Lopez each have 13.1 percent of the vote, and Joe Campos has 11 percent.

Don’t expect the percentages to stay this way. Many of the votes that have been counted so far come from Bernalillo County. Campos is running as a rural candidate and will gain ground as votes come in from other counties.

Totals for Ortiz y Pino and Lopez will probably drop as other votes are counted.
